Loving yourself
The other morning, Johari was playing on the floor. She came across herself in the mirror attached to her playmat. She started checking herself out in the mirror. Then, proceeded to make out with herself in the mirror. Kissing and kissing. After quite a session of making out with herself, she fell back on the pillow behind her passing out from all the self-love.
It was so great to watch. I don't know that she knew that it was herself in the mirror, but...it made me think about how we are so free to love ourselves when we are little. We can appreciate ourselves and not be inhibited by all of the things that we get hung up on later in life. As a baby, it is great to love yourself. Yet in the teenage years and into adulthood we tend to lose sight of this. Wouldn't it be great to find a path where we could continue to appreciate ourselves fully everyday.

Johari delights in new savory treats
Johari has begun eating food in the past month. She is trying things out and developing her repertoire of foods. She dabbles in things like butternut squash, pears, prunes, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, avocado, papaya, and much more. We are going to continue to expand in the fruit and veggie world. Sometimes she doesn't like her mush coming at her by spoon but when I offer it to her in a cup, she will slurp it up. She really likes to drink water from her mama's glass. Big girl!!!
She squawks a lot now. Working those vocal chords out and expressing herself. She likes to tug on the pull string light switches in the house. Her toys are now in baskets which she can pull one out at a time. Sometimes she puts it back in the basket but more often creates a toy mound outside of the basket.
She loves babies and kids. Now, there are a few books that she actually enjoys looking at instead of just eating books. The books with photos of babies and baby faces bring on Johari giggles. There is something about kids loving kids.
She loves to give hugs and kisses. And pat pat her hand.
Johari is ready to move. She wants to get places, but she is still working on figuring out how to make that happen.

Welcome to World
I guess it is time to start a blog on the journey of Jill and Johari. Johari is approaching 7 months old this week. It is amazing what can take place in our lives in a mere 7 months. I enjoy every moment that I am blessed to spend with her. The opportunity to watch each new development and growth is incredible. I have always been a person who is wondering what decision I will make and what plan I will create around the next bend. And at the same time, I try to be in the moment and enjoy the daily life.
